Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): The two-day Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme with the National Convenor of Swachh Bharat Yashwant Singh Darbar, who is also the Director of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Ltd., Government of India (TRIFED), culminated on March 20.
A mass cleanliness drive was organised in the morning at Dimapur Civil Hospital and Dimapur Commerce College, while an interactive session was held with party workers, government departments, and NGOs at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur in the afternoon.
A press release from BJP Nagaland State general secretary, Jaangsillung Gonmei informed that during the mass cleanliness drive at Dimapur Commerce College, teaching faculty, students and party workers took the Swachh Bharat pledge with Yaswant Singh Darbar.
In the afternoon interactive session, Veronica TK Savanai, National Social Media Convenor and Manipur Swachh Bharat Convenor highlighted the Swachh mission and programmes. Representatives of Government departments particularly of PHE and Urban Development explained the government programmes towards this end, the steps initiated, and the challenges that lie ahead, according to the release.
Meanwhile, Vinizo Tsurho, BJP State President of ST Morcha encouraged the party workers to be determined to realize the Swachh goals to better the surroundings. Representatives of NGO expressed their opinion on the cleanliness efforts with fruitful references to the scientific efforts in foreign countries and offered suggestions to better the environment, the release stated.
The National Convenor Yashwant Singh Darbar expressed happiness on the efforts being undertaken in the state both within the party as well as through the Brand Ambassadors of the State appointed by the Governor. “Efforts to improve the surroundings with continuous sanitation efforts is a must if we are to move ahead with the times in terms of health, wealth and spiritually,” he stated, while encouraging all to keep up the efforts and assuring a major Swachh Bharat programme in the coming months.
The BJP Nagaland State general secretary in the meeting stated the two-day event was the first joint sitting of the State party, Government departments and NGOs to deliberate on the Swachh Bharat Mission and looked forward to an even more cooperative effort to better the environment in the days to come.
