Medziphema, August 16 (MExN): In continuation of the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018, an awareness programme was held on August 13 at Medziphema town hall with WATSAN members, village council members and youth members from different villages under the Medziphema Sub-division. A press release stated that attending a meeting later, Er Ichirang Zeliang SDO, PHED Medziphema gave a brief highlight of the Swachh Survekshan Grameen under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission, where ranking of districts and states would be done of the basis of performance attained on quantitative and qualitative parameters of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). He called upon the people to step out and clean their villages and surrounding areas with pride making cleanliness a daily habit across villages. He appealed the gathering to actively participate and popularize the mission so that people are sensitized and mass awareness is created among the rural populace. Earlier in his keynote address SDO (PHED) presented a brief progress report and underscored the benefits of cleanliness to lead healthy life. He informed that union government has engaged a third party to visit villages and take stock of rural cleanliness. During the meeting an assessment of each village was done based on the level of sanitation and cleanliness status. Based on their result of assessment the village authorities were requested to work upon the field of sanitation where it is lagging and improve the overall aspect of sanitation and cleanliness. Also in the programme the people were taught of the SSG 2018 app for online feedback from the citizen. At the end of the programme pamphlets and banners were distributed to villagers and vote of thanks was pronounced from the staff of the department.
