DIMAPUR, JAN 28 (MExN): Bharatiya Janata Party Laban Mandal joined the rest of the nation in paying glowing tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his 109th birthday at an impressive function in Laban, Shillong, which was attended by senior party leaders besides a host of prominent residents cutting across communities.
The keynote speaker and chief guest on the occasion was Vekho Swuro whose much acclaimed book on Netaji’s Last camp at Nagaland was released last year in Shillong by M. M. Jacob, the Governor of Meghalaya.
Swuro who is a passionate researcher and an erudite writer on Netaji spoke volumes on Netaji’s exemplary commitment to nationalism and his stellar role in forming INA which ultimately paved the way for the withdrawal of British troops from India.
Swuro in his inimitable style enlightened the audience about Netaji’s visit to Nagaland and the experiential narration of some of the Naga people who were closely associated with Netaji in a storytelling mannerism and also the deep reverence with which Netaji is still held by the people of Nagaland. He called upon the audience to work in tandem to propagate the ideals of Netaji countrywide and also strive towards developing the Last Camp in Nagaland as a national heritage site which would be a befitting tribute to the valiant patriot.
