SYCOPHANCY is the name of the game and MANIPULATION its rule. Seems like almost anybody with a certain amount of pull would readily fiddle with the dynamics to suit their own devices. IS SOMEONE GETTING THE BEST OF YOU?
Our society today has become such, where hypocrisy to the self and the love for money and power has created certain STRONGHOLD OF MEGALOMANIA.
Incidents where students and church leaders have been assaulted or the more recent one where a non-local instigated the assault of two young men are very disturbing. IS SOMEONE GETTING THE BEST OF YOU?
WHAT’S GOING ON?? GENTILITY seems to be on the WANE. Have our cultural ethos evaporated? In our world politeness and refined behaviour seem to have no scope. These days every-body wants to “muscle and hustle”. Has the legacy of our forefathers taught us this?
The Naga people are descendants of warriors, that too WARRIORS WITH HONOUR. There is no honour in abusing one’s position and in allowing others to manipulate and poison our minds. Someone has sown the seeds of discord and people have been used and abused. IS SOMEONE GETTING THE BEST OF YOU?
I believe that the real men resolve their difference by the strength of their REASONING and not by the strength of their arms. Yes, all of us have our own boiling points and sometimes we forget our civil selves and revert to cave-men like behaviour. I’m sure majority of the readers would agree that cavemen were not good resolvers of disputes.
I’d like to share a theme with all the readers based on all the news reports read these last couple of months. It’s what I have emphasized “IS SOMEONE GETTING THE BEST OF YOU”?
WHO WOULD BE THE GAINER OF ANY altercation among the Naga Family? That too fuelled by an outsider. If one outsider could disrupt societal harmony, we don’t need EINSTEIN to tell us what an organized outside government could do.
On a similar note, people here tend to remain quite passive or casually unconcerned when they are meted out with a condescending or step-motherly treatment. How can we improve the quality of life in our state, when we don’t act at the RIGHT TIME for the RIGHT REASONS.
Various examples could be highlighted as a reminder. Basic services in modern society—
1. The News report where a BSNL employee misbehaved with a lady and gave false accusation (has the employee been admonished??) what were all those in the vicinity doing? It could happen to our sisters or mothers!.
2. The Step-motherly treatment to travellers from here by the air or rail authorities (will those responsible clarify and rectify?).
3. The communal tension in Tobu and other problems faced by our fellowmen in the interiors, such as poor road conditions.
4. The NPSC Fiasco.
The list could go on………And, I wouldn’t know all the problems faced by the people. SO HAS SOME BEEN GETTING THE BEST OF US? Or more importantly, are we allowing ourselves to be gotten the best of?
In conclusion, I would urge all those in capable positions and all those people for a better society to strive to be that difference that makes the difference. Those that work against the fabric of a civilized society should not be allowed to function at all. It can be done by the RIGHT united approach.
