DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): Jammu and Kashmir today beat Nagaland by 8 wickets in the Men’s Senior Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2019-20 in Surat.
Nagaland won the toss and elected to bat first, managing to put up a score of 128 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Shrikant Mundhe was Nagaland’s top scorer with 63 runs, followed by Hokaito Zhimomi with 25 runs.
For J&K, Parvez Rasool was the highest wicket taker with 2 scalps.
Chasing 129 runs to win, J&K made quick work by winning the match scoring 132 runs losing 2 wickets in 11.5 overs. Shubham Khajuria with 73 runs was their top scorer. Abdul also contributed to the win with 28 runs.
Imliwati and Toni from Nagaland bagged a wicket each.
Men’s U-23 team beat Manipur
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Under-23 One Day Trophy, the Nagaland team defeated Manipur by 100 runs at Cuttuck.
Manipur won the toss and decided to field first. Nagaland managed to score 245 runs in 50 overs losing 8 wickets. Nikhil from Nagaland scored a century (109 runs) while Joshua scored 37 runs.
Nongthombam with 3 wickets was Manipur’s highest wicket taker, followed by Khangembam with 2 wickets.
In the second winnings, the Nagaland bowlers managed to restrict Manipur to a mere 129 runs, bowling them out in 38.4 overs.
Shamwang was Nagaland’s highest wicket taker with 3, while Vaibhav and Akavi bagged 2 wickets each.
Women’s U-23 team lose to Haryana
In the Women’s Under-23 T20 Trophy, Haryana defeated Nagaland by 118 runs.
Haryana won the toss chose to bat first putting up 159 runs losing only 1 wicket in 20 overs. Sheetal with 85 runs was the key player for Haryana, while the sole wicket for Nagaland was taken by Ananya.
The Haryana bowlers meanwhile made the task hard for Nagaland by restricting them to a mere 41 runs, taking 8 wickets in the 20 overs.
