
Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The Nagaland cricket team on Saturday defeated Mizoram by 39 runs in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021-22 played at ACA Stadium, Vijayawada. After having won the toss, Mizoram invited Nagaland to bat first. Nagaland faced a setback early in the game when Captain Jonathan Rongsen was sent back to the pavilion on the very first delivery of the innings by HM Ralte. Despite having a slow start, Joshua and Mundhe maintained their composure and maintained a good partnership till 34 runs, until the former was run out by Dika Ralte.
Later, Chetan Bist (26 runs) joined Mundhe and together they stitched a much need partnership of 63 runs. Mundhe went on to score 76 runs. Hem’s quick knock of 25 runs off 14 balls took Nagaland to a defendable total of 156 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Chasing the target, Mizoram were short of 39 runs at the end of the final over losing 5 wickets. For Nagaland, Nagaho, Mundhe, Khrievitso Kense and Imliwati claimed a wicket each. In the next match, Nagaland will be playing against Arunachal Pradesh at Gokaraju Liala Gangaaraju ACA Cricket Ground, Mulapadu on November 8.
