Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Nagaland lose to Vidarbha

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 5 (MExN): Nagaland lost to Vidarbha by 5 wickets in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Nagaland, having won the toss and electing to bat first, posted a total of 115 runs losing 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Both openers—Jonathan Rongsen and Sedezhalie Rupreo—started off well and were in great form however they could capitalized as the latter was ran out while he was on 10 runs. It was not an easy task for the Nagaland batsmen to score runs playing against a prominent team like Vidarbha.

However fine innings from the Captain Jonathan Rongsen (35 runs) and Chetan Bist (44 runs) pushed Nagaland to a decent total of 115 runs. For Vidarbha, YR Thakur claimed 2 wickets while Umesh Yadav, D G Nalkande and AA Wakhare picked a wicket each.

In the run chase, Vidarbha had a poor start as their opener SK Wath was bowled by Abu Nechim in the second delivery of the first over. Nagaland bowlers put up a tough fight but went down by 5 wickets as the target was not good enough against a prominent team and Vidarbha reached the target in just 17.5 overs.

For Nagaland, Khrievitso Kense took 2 wickets (2/27). Abu Nechim (1/18) and Imliwati (1/24) claimed a wicket each.
