TaFMA continues to promote arts and music

Despite the pandemic of almost two years, with the whole world undergoing lockdown with enormous amount of restrictions, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha today said that the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) continued to perform by carrying out exemplary work in the field of promoting arts and music.

He placed on record that TaFMA is one of the most successful government departments and is one of the institutions that adapted quickly to the new normal by using digital platforms to continue with their given responsibility not just here in Nagaland but cutting across the country and international boundaries.

He commended TaFMA for succeeding “in partnering with corporate companies, private firms, international institutions, different governments and a lot of the private sector during this pandemic and continued not only with its normal activities but managed to increase its programs, events and activities by dozens more events.”

Stating that this is the way forward, he said, “This is how you adapt, acclimatize, and serve your people.” He highlighted that the Government of Nagaland has a pragmatic approach in all its spheres of activities, and reiterated that a standing and shining example today is TaFMA.

“The pragmatic approach of the Chief Minister and of the Government of Nagaland is bringing the right people for the right job,” he added while thanking him for supporting the young people of Nagaland, and for believing in our youths and taking strong political and decision to bring the right people in the right job.

TaFMA, he further said is partnering with more than a dozen corporate institutions and also highlighted that every month, TaFMA playlist is coming out on Spotify, which is the world’s largest platform. Besides this, he said, it is partnering with the world's premiere music publication Rolling Stones as well as India’s biggest FM station- Red FM, and India’s largest commercial music streaming service- Gaana.com.

Metha said it is collaborations like these that will take the vision of the government higher but most importantly, he asserted that “it will ensure that the dreams and aspirations of young people of Nagaland are realised.” Towards this end, he assured that every effort is being made to ensure that young people realise their dreams.

In the meantime, he urged upon young people to work hard, follow their passion with dedication while putting across that “as long as you put in the hard work, success cannot escape you.” Whether it is Music, Arts, or Sports, he asserted that “there is no short cut. There is no backdoor, no VIP Recommendation. It all depends on you.” “You will determine your future. You will write your destiny,” he said.

In a brief event held at RCEMPA, the winners of the Voice of TaFMA (a virtual solo singing competition) were also felicitated. Molungnenba Longkumer, who won the competition, was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 25000 with a song recording and a music video.

The Top 5 including Benry Moses, Chijanbemo Richard Ezung, Longdi Anar, and Sunep A Jamir will get a song recording and a music video while the rest in the Top 10 including Rukuta Lohe, Mughato Sumi, Hanglong L Konyak, Obang Pongen, and Heka Yepthomi will get a song recording.

Voice of TaFMA is a collaborative initiative of INRECO- the first Indian owned music label inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1932 and Task Force for Music and Arts- Government of Nagaland.

Congratulating the winners, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha also extended his deep appreciation to INRECO for partnering with TaFMA and for believing in the young people of Nagaland. “We hope this is only a first of a long journey ahead and we look forward to collaborating, partnering and working together in our common endeavour of promoting young talents, musicians, artists and helping them reach their aspirations,” he said.  

To the winners, he said, “Well done! Thank you for participating. I hope this is only one of the first of the laurels and accomplishments that you will win in the coming years.” He also assured them that the Government of Nagaland and TaFMA will continue to do its best and put in all possible efforts to ensure that the talents of Nagaland are promoted in the right way, to the right audiences and at the right platforms.

Earlier, Project Director, TaFMA, Hovithal Sothu remarked that the endeavour of TaFMA is to let young people grow in whatever they do. He said that all their activities have been projected towards that endeavour and further added that the Voice of TaFMA was also organised keeping that in mind.
