TaFMA joins forces with Seven Seas Music to promote Naga music

The Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Nagaland has joined with San Francisco-based Seven Seas Music with the objective of promoting ‘Naga music globally.’

Seven Seas Music is a platform to “discover, listen, and license music from independent artists around the world.”
Informing this on a Twitter update on January 18, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio wished the partnership ‘all success.’

“I am happy to learn that @sevenseasmusic San Francisco and @TafmaNag #Nagaland have joined hands to promote Naga music globally. I wish this partnership all success.”

The official handle of TaFMA also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his “ vision to take Naga music to the ends of the earth.”

Based in San Francisco, Seven Seas Music described itself as a “music licensing and discovery platform that helps media professionals quickly stream and license authentic music from around the world.”

On the platform, music supervisors, producers, and other creators can search for culturally diverse sounds to accompany their visual content.

Users are able to purchase individual or blanket legal licenses for their favorite tracks and monies collected go back to the artists in their respective countries, it said.

According to its website, Seven Seas Music “empower both sides - producers and artists - and deliver memorable audio-visual experiences to audiences” by offering music from emerging and established artists from around the world with portfolio of over 30,000 songs by 3,600 artists from 155 countries.”

Other global initiatives
TaFMA was rebranded on July 26, 2019 from the erstwhile Music Task Force (MTF) of Nagaland with the objective of broadening its “scope of reach and make it more inclusive," is to promote artists in Nagaland.

TaFMA Advisor Theja Meru told The Morung Express during its 1st anniversary last year that the taskforce “considered music and art to be one of the major soft powers of Nagaland.”

In its early run so far, TaFMA has been working on multiple festivals, supporting local events and joining hands with partners ranging from music maestro Dr. AR Rahman and his KM Music Conservatory, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Indian Council for Cultural Relations to collaborating with friends from the music industry from around the world: USA, UK, Russia, Israel, Latvia and more for the growth of the music and arts industry, he added.

This not the first drive towards promoting Naga musician in global and national platform either.

On December 1, 2002 TaFMA joined hands with MusiConnect Asia as organisational partners to work towards promotion of artists related to music from Nagaland at international platforms.

MusiConnect Asia has 51 countries and several world class festivals under its umbrella, a press release then stated.

TaFMA also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with OkListen! on December 4 in Kohima to work together on bringing Naga talent and content on the digital platform to help monetize and popularize Naga artists.

OkListen! described itself as a platform to “discover & Buy music from Independent Indian Musicians.”
