Resource person with others during Talk on Sexual and Reproductive Health on September 19 at Baptist College, Kohima.

Kohima, September 21 (MExN): The Women Development Committee (WDC) of Baptist College (Kohima and Sechü Campus) in collaboration with USAID-PRERANA (Promoting Equity & Reproductive Health Access for Northeast India), conducted a “Talk on Sexual Reproductive Health” on September 19 at Rivenburgs Memorial Chapel, Kohima.
Dr Oonno Jamir, Program Officer, Nagaland, PRERANA, Jhpiego, was the resource person and Veshetsülü Rüho, Convenor, Women Development Committee, Baptist College as the chairperson.
Sharing on the importance of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Dr Jamir highlighted the various factors that affect the SRH of a person. As the quality of a person’s life impacts SRH and vice versa, he pointed out some factors such as mental health, adolescent health, maturation process like menstruation and nightfall, Gender Based Violence(GBV), STIs and RTIs, substance abuse and many other things that need to be addressed as well.
He further shared on safe and unsafe practices for sexual health and unwanted pregnancies. He encouraged the students not to be only well informed but also to be agents of change and advocate the vital information learned to the community as it is everybody’s rights and importantly to ask for help through various available resources for information.
The programme started with invocation by Sevolü Chüzho, Member, WDC and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ngapam, Student Member, WDC.
The programme was attended by students of B.A and B.Com 3rd semesters of the College.
