Tang public questions NSCN-IM’s “anti-Konyak” statement on Ngampan;clarification demanded

Dimapur, July 25 (MExN): The Tang Public Organization at its meeting held on July 5 questioned how late Ngampan Konyak, NSCN-K Kilonser could merit the terms “anti-Naga” and “anti-Konyak” as pronounced on the late Kilonser by the NSCN-IM.

“He is a bona fide Konyak citizen and a great leader of Nagas” Taowang Wangsa, President and Wanglem Wangsa, Vice-President, stated in a release while informing that the late Kilonser had contributed in great measures in every respect for the betterment of Konyaks in particular and Naga nation in general. “It is crystal clear that late Ngampan had never opposed to any decisions of the Naga people, rather he was noble gentlemen who dedicated for restoration of peace and unite Nagas as one. He did not disallow anyone in observing the traditional culture” the organization stated.

Informing that the Konyaks comprises of more than 100 villages and Tangnyu is one of them, the organization stated that Ngampan was born and brought up in Tangnyu. He joined the National movement in 1983, it added.

“The community mourned the death of such an active and great Naga patriot. It is unfortunate and irreparable loss for the nation, when all the people are yearning for peace” the Tang public organization stated. It has demanded from the NSCN-IM to clarify “on the meaning of ‘anti-Konyak’ and anti-Naga’. The organization warned that in the event it is not clarified, the Tang organization would not cooperate with the faction.
