Tangha and Amosen in Longleng district achieve 100% vaccination

Longleng, July 14 (MExN): Tangha village and its adjoining village Amosen under Yongnyah Block of Longleng district has joined others in Nagaland to achieve the distinction of being 100% COVID-19 vaccinated village on July 14.

Both Tangha and Amosen have vaccinated its eligible population with 100% of 2nd doses for 45 years and above, and 100% of 1st doses for 18 years and above.

Giving a brief account on the achievement, Dr Obangjungla, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Longleng stated in a press release that the first vaccination drive in the village started on April 16 where all beneficiaries were vaccinated except some members due to health issues. Those who were not vaccinated in the first vaccination drive were vaccinated in the following vaccination sessions conducted in the health unit, she stated. 

“The Village Task Force comprising of the village council, village guards, student’s organisation and church leaders joined hands and came forward with a determination to vaccinate all its eligible citizens with the COVID-19 vaccine to make the village a 100% vaccinated village,” said Dr Obangjungla. 

Meanwhile, Lorenbeni Humtsoe, Community Health Officer (CHO) Tangha HWC expressed gratitude to the CMO Longleng for her support and encouragement; Dr Imnameren Phom DPO (RCH/UIP) for the timely provision of the COVID vaccines in the health unit and also for the awareness and sensitization provided in the village. Humtsoe thanked Tangha Village Council for providing free vehicle to those on vaccine duty, Village Covid Task Force and Tangha Student’s Union for the awareness campaign and voluntarily services, Tangha Baptist Church for financial and moral support, individuals and well wishers for providing refreshments, ASHAs, AWWs and Village Guards for their support and Tangha Village Health Committee for helping in vaccinating the old aged people at their house. 

Deputy Commissioner, Longleng and Chairman District Task Force, M Shayung Phom appealed and encouraged all the villages in Longleng to come forward and get vaccinated citing that vaccines were the only preventive tool against the pandemic at this juncture and urged upon the public to trust the vaccine and encouraged everyone follow the example which Tangha village has set for the whole District.
