Tangkhul organisations mourn Ramyo Luikham’s death

Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): Tangkhul organizations in Nagaland have mourned the demise of Ramyo Luikham at his native village Ukhrul on November 16. Ramyo retired as the Financial Advisor to the Government of India, Department of Finance.   The Tangkhul Hoho Nagaland expressed grief and pain at the passing away of Luikham, one of its former members. He served as OSD to the Government of Nagaland from 1967-72. “During his stay in Kohima most of us were young and newly appointees of Nagaland state service. We would always flock to him for help. He was a young man who loved helping others,” reminisced Lungmi Kasar, president, Tangkhul Hoho Nagaland in a condolence message. Kasar said Luikham’s one advice “which…is permanently imparted in our mind is ‘You are here to serve the people, you have special obligation to the people. Serve with total dedication, dignity and honour’.”   Stating that Luikham lived a “long glorious life” (96/97) with dignity and honour, the Hoho added, “In his death we have lost a real good and kind hearted person, and also a great visionary leader.” The Hoho also expressed condolence to the bereaved family members.   In a separate message, the members of Tangkhul Union Kohima (TUK) expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of Ramyo Luikham. It recalled that Luikham was among the few officers from Tangkhul community during the days he was posted in Kohima. “His great contribution towards the acquiring of land from the Nagaland state government for construction of a church building, where the Tangkhul Baptist Church Kohima is standing today, will be remembered by one and all in days to come,” it stated. TUK prayed that God give spiritual strength to the bereaved family members so as to lighten and console the heavy heart.
