DIMAPUR, MARCH 5 (MExN): The Tizu Area Public Welfare Organisation (TAPWO) today expressed concern at the stoppage of work on the Sathiri to Chepoketa road under Central Road Fund. A press note from the TAPWO informed that the road construction has completely stopped without any laborers.
“Now is the peak season to start the work before monsoon starts. Therefore the TAPWO along with the entire public earnestly request the concerned contractor to restart the work at the earliest possible time so as to enable the people to ply on the good road like those of other people in the state with good road,” it appealed.
The TAPWO further urged the Executive Engineer, PWD, Phek, who is executing the road construction to restart the work in order to avoid adversely affecting the lives of people in the area.
The said road, it pointed out, “is the only road connecting district headquarters Phek and Zunheboto district.” The stoppage of work, the TAPWO informed, has “adversely affected the day to day life activities and many more issues of the general public.”
It meanwhile informed that despite several appeals to the concerned contractor, the work has not resumed. The TAPWO while expecting works to restart soon, meanwhile cautioned that “failing to do so, any untoward incident that may occur in the near future shall be the sole responsibility of the concerned contractor and the work agency.”
