Kohima, April 27 (DIPR): Tasile N Zeliang, from Nagaland will be conferred Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate Degree) by the Gauhati University in recognition of her unstinted and tireless efforts in the field of education, sports, writing and social works in the State of Nagaland during the 26th Convocation on April 28 at Gauhati.
The Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, P.B. Acharya, when he was the Governor of Assam and also Chancellor, Gauhati University had asked the University to confer honorary degrees to dedicated people in different fields. For the first time the University will be conferring Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate Degree) in its 26th Convocation.
Acharya has been advising the Universities to recognize the people who contribute towards the welfare of the society. He emphasized that the efforts of these people in various fields particularly in preservation and promotion of indigenous tribal culture, traditions, environment and home medicine must be acknowledged.
