‘Taste of Kanglei’: Manipuri cuisine outlet opens in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): The ‘Taste of Kanglei’ an authentic Manipuri cuisine outlet located at Super Market, Dimapur was inaugurated by GB Hevishe Village, also convenor of the Concern People of Nagaland, Kahuto Chishi on July 28. The ‘Taste of Kanglei’ is owned by Major Vikuto Assumi. 

According to a DIPR report, while pointing out about the poor economy of the State, Kahuto Chishi felt that as responsible citizens one should come out and work in the business sectors with innovative ideas and thereby contribute towards the economy of the State. 

He encouraged the Naga youngsters not to depend only on government jobs but to come out of their comfort zone, take the risks face challenges and to foray into different business ventures for their survival while also contributing towards the state economy. 

In his speech, Major Vikuto Assumi said that while serving in the Indian Army he was posted at Manipur from 2011 to 13 during which he fell in love with Manipuri food. Observing that there was no proper Manipuri thali restaurant in Dimapur, Major Vikuto took voluntary release from the Indian Army and mooted the idea of opening a decent Manipuri thali restaurant at Dimapur to make the people  feel the Manipuri culture and also to know and understand our neighbouring state closely through food and foster peace with better relationship. 

He informed that he brought Manipuri cooks from Imphal and further said that rice and all the other ingredients to be used in the restaurant will be supplied from Manipur.

The dedicatory prayer was offered by Pastor Lhomithi Baptist Church Dimapur, Toluho Chishi.

Located at Super Market, Dimapur, Taste of Kanglei is fully air conditioned and open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
