TOBU, JULY 13 (MExN): The Tobu Area Students' Union (TASU) held its 42nd mid-term meeting at Tobu town on July 11, attended by representatives from various civil society organisations across the Tobu area and delegates from all 15 federating units under TASU.

A key highlight of the meeting was the official announcement that the 42nd Federal Assembly-cum-Sports Meet 2026 will be hosted at Tobu town, TASU officials said.

The gathering also undertook a comprehensive review of the Union’s standing and working resolutions.

The meeting was chaired by the Federal Assembly of TASU and began with an invocation prayer by Sangki, Association Pastor, Youth TTBC. TASU President Chongo Konyak delivered the welcome address, while a special number was presented by Mienchangle Students' Union. An exhortation was delivered by Changlang, Head GB of Tobu town.

Discussions during the meeting covered a range of community and developmental issues, including the plight of domestic helpers and daily wage earners, regulation on animal slaughter during feasts, enforcement of bans on logging, wildlife hunting and electro-fishing, concerns over the education system, a proposal to cap local loan interest rates at 5 per cent, and ongoing as well as upcoming development activities in the region.

The meeting concluded with a call for unity, responsibility, and active collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure progress and development in the Tobu area, the organisers added.
