TASU to impose indefinite blockade of NH-702

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 2 (MExN): With no response forthcoming from the state government over the ultimatum served for resumption of works along Namtola-Mon section of NH-702, the Tizit Area Students Union (TASU) on Friday announced that it will impose indefinite blockade on the National Highway from November 5, 2018 onwards.   The TASU had served a 20 day ultimatum to the state government and the contractor on October 9, 2018 to resume works along Namtola-Mon section of NH-702 or face blockade. With the expiry of the ultimatum, an emergency meeting was convened on November 2 with all the federating units and village council chairman of the affected villages under Tizit area wherein the following resolutions were adopted:   That the indefinite blockade on NH-702 shall not be lifted unless the concern department and contractor comes and start the construction works. The house also resolved to intensify the blockade by restricting functioning of government mechanism under Tizit if needed.   During the blockade, administration, educational institutions, para military, police personnel and medical would be exempted. While highlighting this, the TASU has requested all stakeholders under Tizit and Mon district in general to cooperate and avoid travelling during this period to avoid problems.
