Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): The Tata Football Academy (TFA) conducted an open selection trial for under-16 boys in Dimapur on February 10. The trials were conducted at the SAI ground under the supervision of TFA, Jamshedpur coach Akshay Das in coordination with Temjenkibang, a former national player and Daniel Rongmei, coach of forerunner FC.
With ‘catch them young’ as the motto, a press release stated that the TFA is holding trials across the country scouting for talent. The release quoted Das as stating that the players were tested on their performance in match situations with speed, technical skills, attitude, tactical awareness, physical ability and how the player communicates as the factors.
The release said that Temjenkibang regarded the trials as an opportunity for budding footballers to get exposure under professional guidance.
Around 80 players turned up at the trial with 7 selected. The 7 selected will be mentored by professionals besides providing them a platform to play for TFA, the release said while adding, “TFA not only provides an intensive training but also opportunities for all-round development with facilities for formal education and vocational training.”
