Taxi driver wounded in suspected road rage

One taxi driver was injured in a suspected road rage incident in Jorhat on January 8. The driver, whose name could not be ascertained, was on the wheels of a Kohima—Mon taxi when the incident was said to have happened on the Jorhat Bypass road (NH-715) at around noon.  The taxi was allegedly intercepted by a car on the highway, and one of the car’s occupants began attacking the driver with what appeared to be a cleaver, as per a video clipping taken by a passenger of the taxi. The driver sustained injury on the head. 

According to sources, a police complaint was subsequently filed at the Pulibor Police Station. As per reports the suspect has been arrested and taken into police custody.  The Assam-registered taxi makes daily round trips between Kohima and Mon, travelling via Assam.
