TB forum meeting held in Wokha

WOKHA, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): A meeting of the Tuberculosis Forum and Tuberculosis Co-morbidity Committee was convened at the Wokha DC’s conference on September 8.  

Chairperson of the meeting, Lankonsen Tsanglao, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, informed that the meeting was called to review the activities of the TB Forum and TB Co-morbidity Committee. 

Dr Akum Jamir, District TB Officer and Member Secretary presented a brief report on the various activities carried out in the district under TB Mukh Bharat Abhiyan and the TB treatment monitoring tools under Nikshay platform. The meeting also witnessed a testimony of a TB patient who shared his experiences on the timely regular treatment received under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and the financial benefits under Nikshay Poshan Yojana. 

Members of the TB forum discussed about the monitoring of treatment and Information, Education and Communication outreach activities among faith based organizations, and schools and community at large in the district. Therali Tungoe, President Thera Welfare Society gave a brief account of the Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) conducted by Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) and the challenges faced by them to implement it.

During the meeting, Dr CW Tungoe, Chief Medical Officer Wokha, advised the district administration to be informed and coordinate with NGOs for smooth implementation of the ACSM among communities, stakeholders and civil societies. Concluding the meeting, ADC Wokha thanked all the members for attending the meeting and informed that another meeting would be called on the third or fourth week of November.
