Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): The Tangkhul Baptist Churches (TBCA) today made a fervent appeal to the NSCN (K) to revoke the quit notice served to the Tangkhuls living in Nagaland in the name of Christ and in the spirit of forgive and forget.
A press release received here from the TBCA Executive Secretary Rev Yangmaso Khariwo, while calling for the revocation of the quit notice, stated that ‘this honest appeal is the inspiration of God and deliberation of the TBCA annual gathering under the theme ‘Complete in Christ’ at Jessami held on 8th to 11th March 2007, where a resolution was unanimously accorded for repeal of ‘quit Notice’ served to the Tangkhul by NSCN (K) in Nagaland under forgive an forget spirit in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ’.
The release stated that ‘the congregation of TBCA from the core of its heart in retrospect acknowledged the many wonderful blessings of God upon the people of Tangkhul. At the same time admitted the excesses and atrocities committed in the name of national movement or by selfish individual either national worker or over ground arrogance had inflicted and wounded upon the fraternal communities or individuals’.
In this respect, the release stated that the acts of excesses committed ‘is repented for forgiveness as we have disobeyed and abused God’s talent and gifts and caused too much harm and destruction to our present Naga society’.
The release stated that ‘the congregation offered a special prayer to God for the Naga national struggle and sought his intervention of present infighting among the warring organisations, which have obstructed the Nagas aspirations for national solidarity and lasting solution with the government of India’.
The release also stated that ‘the congregation accorded another resolution to appeal to all the national organisations to extend good will and brotherhood to one another as brothers and sisters of one family ad fight in unity in finding for a lasting and peaceful solution of the decades long Indo-Naga conflicts’.
Further the release extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the organisations like Hohos, churches, NSF, Human Rights, UNC, Sumi Hoho, individual leaders etc for their prayers and appeal to revoke the Quit Notice to the Tangkhuls residing in Nagaland. The TBCA made special mention of the NBCC and NMA for sending out special delegations to meet the NSCN (K) authourity and pleading for the revocation of the quit notice.
The release further stated that ‘we firmly believed that we shall be forgiven of our shortcoming, our appeal is true confession and honest admission to the truth if we have failed in our duties and responsibilities toward Naga societies’ and once again called for forgiveness of ‘past wrongs committed to one another’ and appealed for the revocation in the spirit of forgive and forget.
