Under the theme ‘Shootout Suicide’, Tchüphyangza Baptist Church (TBC) Youth Department organised a penalty shootout at MTC Ground, Wokha on January 20. The event was graced by Dr Libemo Kithan, Associate Professor, Mount Tiyi College, Wokha as the theme speaker.
Altogether 26 teams participated in the penalty shootout with Young Star (under 11) as the youngest team and Sirens FC and TBE CNY1 as Women Football Team.
Kithan embarked his speech with Emile Durkheim's Theory of Suicide to the youths. He highlighted on the complex issue of suicide, its contributing factors and approach with preventive measures to avoid Suicide. He stated that personality development and spiritual well-being can be valuable tools in overcoming failures and hurdles in life while cultivating a resident positive personality helps to bounce back from setbacks during challenging times.
Kithan urged the youths to set multiple goals in order to cultivate mental stability, reminding them that having a well rounded set of goals provides balance and reduces the impact of setbacks while helping to boost up the confidence and contribute to a more stable mental state.
He encouraged them to lead an adventurous Life. He concluded his speech by addressing the collective role involved to console and focus on the challenges presented by suicidal behaviour in the Society.
Later, a pledge was declared to win over suicide through Christ and uphold the value of one's precious life. The event was kicked off by Rev A Kithan.
Penalty Merchants was declared as the Champion while Mokol FC and Cricket Lovers secured the second and third positions. Abeno of Mastermind FC scored the First Goal and Benri Tungoe of Mokol FC claimed the Best Keeper.
