TCL PeF to press for all round development of Tirap, Changlang, Longding

Changlang, July 31 (MExN): Tirap-Changlang-Longding People's Forum (TCL PeF) has resolved to press both the State (Arunachal Pradesh) and central government for all round development of the three districts (Tirap, Changlang, Longding) in the field of education, sports, infrastructure, industries and border huts etc.   This was one of the resolutions made at the annual meeting of TCL PeF held in Deomali on July 27.   The meeting also stressed on the need to protect the Naga culture, customs and religious practice as “it is fast diminishing among today's youth,” stated a press statement from the forum’s new president, Ngungtim Changmi. It was also decided that a team will be soon dispatched to New Delhi to press the Central Government to grant special fund to improve the poor infrastructure in two government run colleges in Changlang and Deomali and also to sanction one more college for newly created Longding district. Special fund would also be demanded to encourage Naga culture, custom and religious practice of TCL district, it added.   The Forum also decided to monitor the ongoing project undertaken by different departments for its quality works and completion on a time bond manner. It also took a serious note on poor infrastructure and development which are going on “snail pace” and low quality of work in spite of having spent sufficient fund and time by the concerned department.   The other important issue discussed was to press Government of India for early solution to the Indo-Naga peace talk. Other members also opined that the Indo-Naga peace talk has been dragged on for too long and must be brought to a logical conclusion at the earliest, according to the statement. The meeting also unanimously resolved not to accept any solution without involvement and proper consultation with the Tirap-Changlang-Longding People’s Forum.   “For the past several decades, Nagas of Tirap-Changlang-Longding has faced untold suffering and lost many- many precious lives and we still continue to face multi-faceted problems because of which the development in TCL district has taken a back seat,” the statement lamented. “The number of unemployed youths is getting multiplied every year, no job opportunities have been created, fund which are sanctioned for the three districts are too little to see development.”   Both the State and the central government, it said, will be urged to make a serious effort to bring real time peace and development of the people of the districts.   According to the statement, hundreds of people from all walks of life from the Naga inhabited areas of Trap, Changlang, Longding participated in the meeting. A new team of office bearers was unanimously selected for the term 2017-2021 with Ngungtim Changmi as president, Wintung Bosal and Tupkam Kitnya as Vice Presidents, Hangliam Sumlyan as General Secretary, among others.
