TCYM terms cabinet sub-committee as ‘unconstitutional’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 9 (MExN): The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has termed the formation of a cabinet sub-committee to look after the functions of Tamenglong, Senapati and Churachandpur ADCs as “unconstitutional, arbitrary, biased, discriminatory and in contravention of all norms.”

A press note from the TYCM stated that it wanted to support the government and added that “we don’t want any types of agitation.” However it stated that “as the State Government has constituted an unconstitutional sub-committee and reluctant to revoke the same in spite of several approaches by All Tribal Rights Protection Forum Manipur (ATRPFM),” TYCM would fully support and endorse the proposed total shut down in all hill districts from 6:00am of September 14 till 7:00pm of September 15, unless the said order is revoked.

“Constitution of a Cabinet Sub-Committee was never required and the Government can easily revoke it if the government is sincere. Politics in contravention of constitutional provisions and norms and ethics of Ministers is not healthy at all and should be obstructed at any cost,” it added.
