TDFA, SDFA unveil team jerseys ahead of Dr T Ao Trophy 2025

With the prestigious Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Trophy 2025 set to kick off on August 1 in Kohima, defending champions Tuensang District Football Association (TDFA) and debutant Shamator District Football Association (SDFA) officially launched their team jerseys in separate events this week.

In Tuensang, the reigning champions TDFA held a brief jersey unveiling ceremony at the residence of the association’s treasurer. The event was graced by Berimong Chang, SDO (Civil), Tuensang, who formally launched the new kit in the presence of TDFA officials, players, and referees. A moment of prayer and dedication for the team and equipment was led by Ayen Chang, Associate Pastor of Tuensang Village Baptist Lashong.

Speaking at the launch, the TDFA President expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and their commitment to defend the title they won during the previous edition. The team, known for its grassroots energy and resilience, is scheduled to travel to Kohima later this week. The association said it has been preparing intensively for weeks to maintain form and composure as title holders.

Meanwhile, in Shamator, the SDFA unveiled their team jersey on July 27 at a function held at the YBBA Guest House, Old Showuba Village, Niuland. The launch was officiated by K. Yimso Yimchunger, Chairman of the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB), who encouraged the players to uphold discipline, consistency, and faith in God as they represent the district.

The SDFA jersey was also dedicated in prayer by Rev Tochumong, Pastor of Showuba Village Baptist Church. SDFA President Shahoto Yimchunger thanked K. Yimso Yimchunger for his presence and extended appreciation to Danyim Enterprise for jersey sponsorship. He also acknowledged support from Music Planet & A-Sport and HK Rhetso Tyre MRF Kohima. The team will be led by Manager Tsuyihba and Coach Visa Angami.

The Dr T Ao Trophy, Nagaland’s premier inter-district football tournament, is organised by the Nagaland Football Association with support from the Department of Youth Resources & Sports and District Sports Councils. This year’s tournament will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, from August 1 to 15, featuring top district teams competing for the coveted title.
