The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) today disbursed Zero Interest Loan (ZIL) under its flagship programme 'Uplifting Women Street Vendors Program, (UWSVP)' at tEA Conference Hall, Kohima.

40 women street vendors joined the programme.

Sharing overview of UWSVP, Chunjanglu Gonmei, tEA Operations Supervisor said “The Zero Interest Loans was started during the pandemic to alleviate the struggles of the women street vendors.”

Talking on women's health, Dr. Nounsenuo Yiese, Medical Officer, UPHC Poterlane, advised the women street vendors to make hygiene their priority.

She also handed out zero interest loans to 6 women street vendors amounting to a total of one lakh and five thousand.

tEA's EATACOL Supervisor Sentinaro Walling shared on the various financial services provided under UWSVP and enlightened them on the importance of savings and financial literacy.

The program was chaired by Kuvekhwulu Swuro, tEA Community Mobilizer while Khenili Kiho, tEA Project Associate invoked God’s blessings.

The programme was followed by session on Skills Training with tEA's food technologists Sokhrienuo Pfukha and Rokokhonuo Suokhrie as resource persons.

They trained the women on how to make tamarillo and ginger pickles.

Mentionably, the Zero Interest loans which were conceptualised by The Entrepreneurs Associates post the pandemic, aims to give financial assistance to the women street vendors and petty traders in re-starting their businesses.

This loan is a crucial component of the UWSVP, which was initiated in the year 2017, which aims to empower the women street vendors through financial literacy and services, health and legal services, skills training and mentorship.

As of today, 7000+ women street vendors have been impacted under the program across Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur.
