Teacher’ tips against Q-paper leak

Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): Following the leakage (“loss”) of NBSE class VIII and IX question papers recently, teachers have suggested certain safeguards against reoccurrence of such ‘losses.’ Mention may be made here that a set of question papers for promotion examinations of the said two classes were “lost” after the packets were collected by Green River Valley School in Changtongya. The examinations were subsequently postponed.

Expressing pain and discouragement, president of All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association Kepelhoutuo Chusi queried how “these kinds of elements” should be allowed to go unchecked. Expressing disappointment that the action of postponement could be resultant due to the “loss” of the confidential papers, the teachers have suggested a number of measures to check any future likened incidences. The ANSTA suggested that the EAC/SDO of areas in concern be assigned to collect the question papers personally and kept in the concern officer’s custody till the day examination commences. No other subordinate or second staff should be allowed to handle the question paper packets, the teachers stated.

Likewise, no subject question papers should be handled by the center of examination by civil servants in advance until the morning of the subject in concern is to be had. There are certain cases in the past that doors and almarahs of schools were damaged by students in search of question papers, the ANSTA reminded. Further, over handing the question packets to the center superintendent (principal/headmaster) at least two teachers should be present to sign or countersign the packets to signify the intactness of the papers or the consignment which is not done so strictly by many centers. “Since this is a serious matter, all concerns including civil societies are requested to support or suggest further as to how this menace can be stopped and contained effectively” Kepelhoutuo Chusi added.
