Teachers’ backdoor appointment cancelled

Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The department of School Education has issued an order canceling the promotion of an OSD in the Directorate of School Education August 13.

The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association informed all its units that the proposed statewide agitation scheduled for August 23-24 is cancelled following the fulfillment of the demand.  Referring to the appointment, a note from the association said no officer or teacher shall try indulge in “manipulative and injustice.” “The association shall not tolerate any malpractices outside the service rule and caution to all concern to be sensitive,” the note added.

Earlier on July 31, the school teachers’ organization in the state had threatened to boycott all classes across Nagaland if the promotion orders, said to be illegal and through backdoor, of a graduate teacher are not revoked. The ultimatum of the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association mentioned several high promotions in relatively short span of time of the unnamed teacher.

“When senior Graduate Teachers of 1985/86 batch have just promoted to Asst Headmaster how can a 1994 appointee and regularized w.e.f. 2004 can be promoted to OSD (Headmaster rank) while her name is not even yet appeared in the seniority list?,” the ANSTA had stated earlier.

A graduate teacher of 2004 “regularized group” was allegedly promoted to OSD Directorate in the rank of Headmaster (Class I gazetted) superseding around 800 of her seniors the association had stated. When the teacher was just an adhoc graduate teacher she was appointed on contract basis as Evaluation Officer (Class II) in the Directorate of School Education, ANSTA had stated.
