Teachers of St John's School oriented for new session

Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): An orientation programme was organized for the teachers of Saint John's School, Diphupar 'B', Dimapur on February 11.
The staff was oriented by Sajeev Kumar P, Editor of Schoolmate and Minnu Mariya John, Counseling Psychologist. The programme commenced with a welcome speech by the school Headmaster Johny Abraham. He shared the school’s vision, curriculum, school systems, teaching methodology and co-scholastic activities.
Minnu Mariya John conducted the first session on the topic "Educating the mind without educating the heart is not education."
She laid stress on effective communication between the teachers and students and urged the teachers to appreciate and recognize each child so that each student can have an overall development. She gave tips on how to nurture a child with love and care to build a strong foundation for a glorious future by "teaching their hearts rather than the mind." Mariya also emphasized on the need of the teachers to always encourage their children in a positive manner.
In the second session, Sajeev Kumar oriented the teachers on "proper usage of grammar in everyday life."
He enlightened the teachers about grammar skills required while teaching. He also gave teachers practical ideas to follow for effectiveness of English grammar teaching in school. Kumar further highlighted the challenges faced by teachers while teaching English such as difficulty in pronunciation and proper usage of vocabulary and grammar. He stressed on the improper use of grammar in a sentence. He also explained the usage of "acronyms, abbreviations and sesquipedalian words" in English.
Altogether 18 teachers attended the programme. It concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Wonjano Ngullie.
