Team Dimapur Dashboard suggests nearly 50% COVID health facilities unoccupied

Despite high number of active cases in the district, nearly 50% of the COVID health facilities in Dimapur hospitals were unoccupied and available, informed data available on Team Dimapur’s dashboard on May 30.  The status was as of May 29.

According to the ‘Dimapur Hospital and Risk Area Information’ data available on the dashboard, COVID-19 health care facilities are being offered in six hospitals in Dimapur including the District Hospital.

Collectively, the hospitals have capacity of 239 oxygen beds, 23 Intensive Care Units (ICUs) with ventilators, 36 ICUs without ventilators, and 40 normal beds for a combined total of 338 beds.

Out of this 174 beds - 115 oxygen beds, 17 ICUs with ventilators, 23 ICUs without ventilator and 19 normal beds were shown as occupied on the dashboard.

In other words, out of the available to total capacity, 51.47% were occupied as of May 29.

Hospital-wise, the capacity of the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CHISR) located 4th Mile Dimapur, was highest with 11 ICU beds with ventilators, 7 ICU without ventilators, 81 oxygen beds and 15 normal beds.

On May 29, 7 ICU beds and 31 oxygen beds where shown as occupied at the CHISR.

In Dimapur District Hospital while all ICU beds with ventilators were full, 4 were available without ventilators while 44 oxygen beds were available. All normal beds were occupied.

Among the private health care units, Faith Hospital had the highest numbers of ICU beds at 16 but almost all (15) were occupied on Saturday. The hospital also has capacity for 18 oxygen beds but 17 out of the total were shown to be occupied. (See Table)

Team Dimapur, headed by Y Kikheto Sema, is responsible for monitoring and coordinating all COVID-19 related activities in the district along with district task force.

It must be noted here that a new COVID Hospital with 30 beds was inaugurated at the Nagaland Police Referral Hospital, Chümoukedima on May 25 with arrangements for 7 ICU beds, five oxygen beds and 15 oxygen concentrators.
The State Government this week also announced the decision to set up a 176-bedded hospital at CHISR. 

In addition, a committee had been set up on May 15 to prepare 100-bedded COVID-19 hospital at the Institute of Hotel Management, Dimapur on priority basis to ease the congestion.

As of May 30, there were 2506 active cases in Dimapur district. Out of the total, 2284 were asymptomatic, 82 mild, 60 moderate on oxygen, 41 on oxygen, 31 on ICU without ventilators and 8 on ICU with ventilators. 

Out of 351 total COVID-19 related deaths in the State, 255 were from Dimapur district, as per the daily COVID-19 Bulletin issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland.

Currently, a total of 162 from Dimapur district are admitted in COVID-19 Hospital out of 238 across the State, it said. A total of 2231 persons were currently in home isolation in Dimapur out of 4364 in Nagaland, the bulletin added.

A total of 8255 persons have also recovered from the infection in the district, out of 15523 total recoveries in the State. On May 30, out of total 21563, there were 5059 active cases in Nagaland.
