Wokha, December 6 (MExN): Team Metamorphosis (TM), a voluntary non-governmental organisation based at Wokha inducted a new team and organised Advent Christmas programme with Assistant Pastor, Wokha Town Baptist Church, Zurenthung Humtsoe as guest speaker on December 5.
According to a press release from the team on Sunday, Humtsoe expounded on the term 'Metamorphosis' and encouraged the gathering which comprised of old and new members by saying that the people of Wokha had watch “Team Metamorphosis grow from a small organisation into a self-confident and one among the most popular and active NGO in the district” that has gone through a series of metamorphosis in its 15 year journey.
“Today, the organisation has got a devoted set of social volunteer force and a managing committee consisting of like-minded dedicated personalities selflessly rendering services that had contributed immensely to the development agenda of the state and the district in particular,” he added.
As this Christmas approaches, Humtsoe opined that every member should come closer to God, encountering him in a special way as that was the true meaning of Christmas. He also encouraged the members to not stay idle but put into action their visions and objectives in order to foster peace and unity in the society, the release stated.
It also said that TM has since its inception, been engaged in ‘spreading the light of non- formal education with music as a tool,’ vocational training, skill development training, health awareness, promotion and revival of cultures and traditions by organising indigenous games and arts, women empowerment, formation of Women SHGs, seminars, workshops and other social welfare measures for the poverty stricken rural as well as urban society.
The organisation aims at socio-economic development of the ‘poverty stricken ignorant backward area people’ in general and empowerment and eco-independence of women and children in particular, the release stated.
