DIMAPUR, May 26 (MExN): Team Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) returned home with a landmark achievement after winning multiple medals at the Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship 2025, held in Delhi from May 21 to 26.
According to a release from the NWA Media Cell, Team India clinched a total of 2 silver and 7 bronze medals at the international event. Significantly, Team NWA contributed 1 silver and 5 bronze medals to that tally, marking a historic feat for the association on the international stage.
The NWA contingent, comprising 15 athletes, one referee nominated by United World Wrestling (UWW), one fresh observation referee, and seven officials, formed part of the larger Team India delegation at the championship.
Expressing appreciation, the NWA extended its gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for its financial and logistical support, and to the Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports (YR&S) for additional assistance. Special thanks were also conveyed to Dr. Keneilhouthoulie Miachio, Chief Conservator of Forests, Durg Circle, for hosting a dinner in honor of the team.
The association further acknowledged the wrestling community and well-wishers for their prayers and moral support, which it credited for helping the team earn prestigious medals for the nation.
