
Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): The School of Engineering & Technology (SET) NU annual technical festival, Tech Aura 2018, ‘A Celebration of Life, Technology, Ideas’ began at its campus near DC Court Junction, Dimapur on October 30.
Special invitee Prof. T. Lanusosang, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SASRD, Medziphema in his speech highlighted on the point that one need to realise one’s own potential in this present competitive world and make best use of the opportunities that comes along in life.
He requested the students to set goals that are realistic and achievable and contribute to the social, economic and moral development of the society. One cannot predict the future but create the future. He further stated that one may achieve many things in life but the most important is to understand the purpose of life.
Prof. Lanusosang also highlighted that India has one of the highest percentage of youth under 25 years and the Government of India is making effort to focus on the education system from the grass root level. New attitude and skills are needed to succeed in life. He also mentioned that one should not become the surrogate of others expectation but rather focus on what we are good at and work towards it.
He concluded by taking quote from Steve Jobs commencement speech at Stanford University, “your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other peoples thinking. Don’t let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice... and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want. Everything else is secondary.”
Prof. SK Sharma, Dean, NU-SET highlighted on how the School came into being, the School started with 8 faculties and 38 students but now has 36 faculties and 280 students. The School has come a long way and it all lies on the dedication of the faculties in imparting quality education. The Dean also mentioned that Tech Aura is a platform to motivate the students to highlight their talents and use this platform to bring about a change in the society.
During the programme, the students’ showcased traditional attire of various states, special song was sung by Moangtemsu and his group. Tech Aura will culminate on November 2.
