KOHIMA, JUNE 2 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan on Sunday congratulated the people of Telangana on the occasion of its state foundation day. According to a PRO press release, the Governor pointed out that this is the second year of observance, reflecting on the dedication to the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative, which beautifully embodies unity in diversity within our nation.

"Telangana, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and remarkable progress, has significantly contributed to our country. Today, as we honor Telangana, we not only recognize its unique identity but also embrace the unity that binds us all as Indians, despite our diverse backgrounds,” the Governor stated at the function held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima to celebrate the state foundation day. 

Telangana's journey, from its formation to its notable achievements, tells a story of strength, determination, and cultural richness. The songs and dances we enjoyed today, performed by Telangana's people living here in Nagaland, highlight the state's rich heritage and vibrant spirit, reminding us of the diverse traditions, languages, and customs that coexist in our nation," the Governor said.

On Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, he highlighted it as an initiative that celebrates our unity in diversity. “Through this program, states learn from each other's cultures, fostering brotherhood and understanding. Today, Nagaland and Telangana, though far apart, are united in celebration, showing that our differences enhance our unity,” the Governor underscored. 

The celebration is not just about Telangana's foundation, it is also a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to promoting national unity. Events like this build understanding, create friendships, and pave the way for a harmonious co-existence, the Governor added.

Thanking the people of Telangana living in Nagaland, “for enriching our culture and demonstrating the unity and diversity we value,” the Governor expressed that their heritage reminds of the beauty of our nation's diverse culture and hoped that the connection between Telangana and Nagaland keep growing stronger, showing the true spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.

The celebration was marked with the presence of the people of Telangana from Kohima and Dimapur and highlights of the programme were Telugu cultural song and folk dances by Mohan Rao, Hemalatha & group, and Bhoomika & group.

Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan gave the welcome address, President of Nagaland Telugu Samaj, Shankar Surada gave a speech on Telangana state, and Joint Secretary to Governor, Mhomo Tungoe delivered the vote of thanks.
