Itanagar, July 1 (MexN): At least 10 people, including women and children, were killed after a landslide hit West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday morning, IANS reported. Police said five bodies were recovered and a search was on for the other bodies. Several houses were buried in the landslide trapping several other people, a PTI report stated. Arunachal Pradesh Governor J.P. Rajkhowa announced ex gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of each victim. West Kameng district superintendent of police A Koan said the landslide occurred when a small hillock near the Old Inspection Bungalow caved in and buried several houses. The SP said torrential rains in the past couple of days has triggered flood-like situation in the town bordering Assam.
