Tetso College announces two scholarships

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): On the occasion of Scholastic Day 2018 celebrated on February 9, Tetso College has announced two scholarships.  

The College has announced 50% Scholarship to students who would like to pursue their BBA and Bcom at Tetso College which comes up to only Rs. 7300/- per semester. This Scholarship is for the duration of the entire Degree course, aimed at encouraging more students to opt for Commerce and management studies and will be offered from the new academic session.  

It also announced 100% Scholarship to Toppers from the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) High School Leaving Certificate and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations, which basically entitles a student to free education for the entire duration of the course.  

A press release received here stated that Manoj Bhattacharjee, Principal of Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Manoj Bhattacharjee in his speech encouraged the students to take up commerce stream as a course of study as the popular trend has always been to take up Humanities.  

Scholastic Day celebrated the achievements and accomplishments of students and staff. Awards and certificates were handed out to students and staff for 100% attendance.  

The teachers who were awarded were Limala Longchar from the Dept of English, Mhabeni Tungoe HOD of Education, Zujanbeni M. Lotha from the Dept of Sociology and Seyiesilie Vupru from the Dept. of Political Science.  

The Outstanding Contributor Award for 2017 went to Kahor Raleng, the HOD of English Dept and Higher Secondary Supervisor for her overall contribution to the College. Under her leadership, the English Dept. has secured the top rank every year since the Nagaland University End Semester exams, the most recent being the gold medal in the NU English honour programme in 2017, and has also been securing distinctions in the NBSE HSSLC Exams. She also has publications to her credit, as a part of the publication team for the Class 12 Orchids Textbook NBSE, written poems for the Dept’s e-books and contributed many articles to the Degree of Thought column.  

The Student of the Year 2017 for Degree Level was awarded to Mereninla Jamir, B.A. 6th Sem English honour and the Student of the Year 2017 for Higher Secondary Level went to Inato Aye, Class 12 Commerce. The Class Champions for the year 2017 was won by the B.A. 4th Semester students for winning the majority of events over the course of Sports Week and other events held in the previous year.  

Further, two College publications were also launched - Expressions: A Tetso College Anthology of Art and Literature (ISBN 978-81-929456-3-7), the English Department’s ebook and The Tetso Interdisciplinary Journal, Vol. 6 (ISSN - 2319-2925), the College’s annual journal. The ebook is available for free download on the College site www.tetsocollege.org and the Tetso College Facebook page.  

The event concluded with a special prayer for the Class 12 students who will soon be appearing the NBSE HSSLC exams in March by Pastor Gwanilo Khing from Rengma Baptist Church Sovima.
