Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): The first Vision 2030 meeting, initiated by Tetso College, took place today, focusing on empowering indigenous communities and building sustainable futures. Key stakeholders gathered to review ongoing projects, set future goals, and explore collaboration avenues to support Nagaland and its indigenous communities.
The meeting saw the participation of prominent figures, including Kvulo Lorin, Director of Tetso College and Chairman of the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC), Dr. Dolly Kikon, Associate Professor at the University of California, Dr. Sedevi Angami, Director of the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR), Dimapur, and other academic leaders from Tetso College.
The committee discussed strategies to further the Vision 2030 objectives, which focus on integrating indigenous knowledge into education, community engagement, research, cultural competence, and sustainable campus practices. They also emphasized the importance of global awareness and advocacy for indigenous communities.
A key highlight of the meeting was the Northeast India Indigenous Peoples Archive (NEIIPA), an open-access digital archive dedicated to preserving indigenous languages and cultural materials. Dr. Wichamdinbo Mataina, Head of the Department of Linguistics at Tetso College and convenor of NEIIPA, provided an update on the archive’s progress. NEIIPA, which operates under a Creative Commons license, has already curated over 40 audio and visual recordings, including traditional songs, folk dances, textile narratives, and culinary practices.
The members also discussed fostering partnerships with local communities, academic institutions, and cultural organizations to further the Vision 2030 agenda. A task force is set to be created to develop a comprehensive strategy to achieve these objectives.
