Tetso inaugurates futsal ground and cricket pitch

Tetso Olympics 2022 underway

Chümoukedima, December 7 (MExN): A futsal ground and a cricket pitch were inaugurated during the opening day of Tetso Olympics 2022 - the annual sports meet of Tetso College on December 7. 

Abu Metha, Adviser to the Chief Minister, Nagaland, Vice- President, Athletics Federation of India, Chairman, National Mountain Running Committee, Secretary General, Nagaland Olympic Association inaugurated the same in the college campus, at Sovima, Chumoukedima.

The cricket pitch is sponsored by Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), informed a press release from the college. 

A total of 6 teams - Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Mercury and Neptune -  are competing in the three-day event.

The oath taking ceremony was administered by Nepoleon Keisham, Coordinator, Tetso Olympic Committee, with the six houses swearing the oath with their flags and endedended with a kick off by the special guest Metha. 

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Tetso College is an institution that thinks out of the box with progressive leadership and maong the best in the North-East. “The achievements of the students proves that this institution keeps pushing the envelope, keeps pushing boundaries," he maintained.

Metha also shared on how sports has the power to unify and transcend boundaries, taking the example of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. 

Taking inspiration from the first African-American US President Barack Obama’s life, he encouraged all the students to work hard to achieve their goals, aims and dreams.Earlier, in the welcome address, Principal Dr Hewasa L Khing encouraged students who have never taken part in games and sports to come out of one’s comfort zone and participate. 

A message from the NCA was also delivered by  its Secretary Hyunilo Anilo Khing, who shared greetings from the Association and highlighted the growing cricket scenario in Nagaland. 

He further encouraged and requested the college to include cricket in the next edition, the release added.  

Also in attendance was Amit Sengupta, Head of Press and Communications, British High Commission, Kolkata Office who shared his happiness to be present in the event.
