Advisor to Nagaland’s school education department, K.T. Sukhalu on Friday assured that text books as well as school uniforms meant for government school students would reach on time for 2019 academic session.
The assurance from the Advisor comes in the backdrop of a recurrent issue faced by government schools yearly: delay in distribution of text books and school uniforms.
Speaking at the one day conference for DEO/SDEO/JEO/AEO/SIS and officers of School Education Directorate here today, Sukhalo said the department is also working on rationalization of teachers.
Stating that there should be no request for transfer and posting after the rationalization is done, he said teachers should be in position and the whole academic year should not be disturbed.
Maintaining that government teachers are highly educated and well trained, he said “we have the best tools. Use the tools wisely and make a magnificent future.” Sukhalu also believed that only a proper, well educated generation can take Nagaland forward.
Menukhol John, principal secretary for school education who also addressed the gathering maintained that the department has been working hard to see that the school children get text books on time while adding that some districts have already started receiving them. He also called upon the concerned officers to ensure that the text books are distributed correctly and on time.
Also regretting that Nagaland has been rated as the lowest UDICE performing state in the past, the principal secretary appealed the officers to do UDICE exercise accurately and on time this year. “I want my state to be the first state to finish UDICE exercise this year,” he added.
He also informed that the department will change the pattern of the board examination starting from Class VIII with effect from 2019 onwards. “We will standardize the syllabus,” he stated.
