DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): The Global Open University Nagaland, along with the rest of the HEIs, observed National Anti-Ragging Day on August 12 followed by the Anti-Ragging week which would continue till August 18.  

A press release issued by TGOUN said the day is dedicated to raising awareness, providing support and fostering a culture of respect and safety.  The initiative was taken to curb the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions. Abhishek Tripathi, Assistant Registrar of TGOUN emphasized that ragging not only violates the rights of the individual but also disrupts the academic environment.   He also reminded that it is a collective responsibility which plays a crucial role in eradicating this menace.

In an effort to foster academic excellence and encourage intellectual engagement among students, the university also organized essay writing competition on the theme ‘The Menace of Ragging in Educational Institutes.’ The winners of the essay writing competition include Katijungla Jamir (Dept of FT) in the 1st place, Imnanaro Pongen (Dept of HM) in the 2nd place and Loinoto (Dept of HM) in the 3rd place.
