Thamji Bang (Morung) at Yongnyah Village inaugurated

Longleng, April 15 (MExN): The newly constructed Thamji Bang (Morung) at Yongnyah Village under Longleng District was inaugurated by CL John, Minister, Rural Development & REPA as chief guest and BS Nganlang as guest of honour respectively.  

According to a press release, while addressing the event, the Minister mentioned that the Morung is one of the most important institutions to impart the practical traditional/customary lessons. During the early days the citizen, particularly the male folk of the village gathered in the Morung and learned many important subject like moral values, discipline, punctuality, politeness, etc. He appealed and encouraged the community that in a Christian era, the activity and its practices in the Morung should be influenced by Christian principles; in accordance to the will and teaching of Jesus Christ.  

He appealed the Yongyah Villagers and its neighbours to make use of the resources available within their jurisdiction for the benefit of the village citizen as well as the located areas. He told them to avail an opportunity to be a part and parcel of the ruling party and ruling government so that the village will develop and prosper in all aspect. He further expressed resentment that in our society, some people are always in the limelight for the wrong reason criticizing its leaders without understanding their words or intention.  

The Minister also clarified that during his speech in one of the occasion, someone “misunderstood and misinterpreted” his language and “even put restriction upon using the Biblical language in the politics.” “But being a Christian, I have every right to speak, praise and to use the name of Almighty God, whether in politics or in any other important field. Hence, I will not stop to praise Almighty God, whether in the churches, politics or in every walks of life,” the Minister affirmed.  

“We must remember that, man and leadership may go and come, but a variety of institutions and activities, such as the Morung, churches, political parties, etc will continue to exist till the second coming of Christ,” he added. He went on to appeal the gathering saying despite the fact that there are more than one Morung in Yongyah village, there should not be any misunderstanding, division, dividing competition in the village. “Rather, the village must be united and work cohesively together in the name of Almighty God and at the same time, let the Thamji Bang (Morung) be a blessed institution for the betterment of  Yongyah village in particular,” said the Minister in conclusion.
