‘The day we’re united, we will witness real peace, too,’ asserts Minister Jacob

The Sejung Ground in Tuensang village came alive with the vibrant hues of culture as the Tuensang Sang Staff Thangjam organised Poanglum celebration from January 10 to 13. Under the theme “Shensi-Nge Lametbü” (Reclaiming Cultural Identity), the event welcomed Jacob Zhimomi, Minister of PHED & Cooperation, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest.

Updating on the festival, the minster on Wednesday posted on the ‘X’ platform, “If we’re not united, we will never see the light of the day. Unity is quintessential for the progress of Naga society. It's high time all the tribes of Nagaland come together and contribute to the collective progress. The day we’re united, we will witness real peace, too.”

Accompanying the minister were others including the event host, Imti Choba, MLA & Chairman DPDB, Tuensang, Government and P Beshangmongba Chang, Minister PWD Housing & Mechanical Engineering, Government of Nagaland, added to the dignified gathering.

The inaugural programme, led by comperes Er Nabum Tombou and Yakching Sonla, began with a solemn invocation by Rev T Mongba, Pastor Tuensang Sang Baptist Lashong, and a stirring heralding by S Chingmak GB. S Menya Wongto, Convenor of the Poanglum Planning Committee, extended a warm welcome, paving the way for insightful addresses from key figures such as Lithrongla T Rutsa, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, O T Chingmak IAS, Retd. Principal Secretary, Government of Nagaland, and P Beshangmongba Chang, Minister PWD Housing & Mechanical Engineering, Government of Nagaland.

The cultural segment featured a captivating folk fusion performance by MuttenHaü, followed by a speech from the special guest. Imti Choba, MLA & Chairman DPDB, Tuensang, Government of Nagaland, conveyed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts that brought the event to life.

The event concluded with a benediction prayer by Y Chenyang, Music Director, Tuensang Sang Baptist Lashong, and a symbolic inauguration of stalls by the Special Guest, followed by engaging cultural presentations. The evening program, hosted by B Akhang and Dolem Lepla, with the seasoned Incipit band from Nagaland, captivated the audience with an uninterrupted performance of 18 well known songs.
