Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): The dicey wooden bridge which leads to the civil hospital in Wokha town has been talked and written about numerous times, but nothing much has been done by the authorities concerned to ensure safety and convenience of the public.
The apathy of the government compelled people in the area and its neighboring colonies to build the makeshift bridge on their own two years ago. However, the monsoon rain in the following year deteriorated it. And since then, the bridge has been lying weakened for the last one year. It is impossible for four wheelers to drive through the fragile wood, whereas some two wheelers manage to pass through it “at their own risk”.
But this long bridge ordeal might finally see some light as there are reports that urban development agency is waiting for the stream to dry up in order to start building the bridge.
