The Ethnic Culture of the East

Dimapur, Oct13 (MExN): In a press release issued from the Office of the Tikhir Students’ Union stated that, “from the time immemorial the Tikhir tribe having prerogative pre-historic and undominated “Freeland”, bordering Myanmar in the east. The four ethnic groups having their own cultures, customs and traditions. These four ethnic groups are; Tikhir, Makory, Chirr and Longpfur.  The Tikhir tribe celebrating “Tsonglaknyi” festival, as their rich culture with pomp and glory. While Makory tribe celebrating “Tsulaknye” festival as their important traditional festival which falls in the month of October every year. The Chirr tribe also observes their festival known as “Rhe” or “Tsakrenye”in contemporary to the Tikhir and Makory.

It is quite undeniable fact, as other Nagas having their own ethnic cultures and customs. Whereas, some parasites creating prejudices dominates these four tribes. Everything can be changed but the history cannot change and mingle or compromise. When we read the Bible, St. John 1:1 “In the beginning their was only word, and the word was with God, through word everything was created” the term word means language and this language became history. Nagas cannot transform to Americans or Americans to Nagas.

In respect of the present ethnic fashion shows which had been organized by the most advance Naga tribes to beautify the different rich Naga culture and heritage. Every Naga tribe has right to participate in any activities whether big or small. Whereas, some individualistic interest people disrupt to defame the image of the Naga society.

This kind of anti-elements should not be prevailed in order to maintain peace and tranquility as a whole. We are proud of advance Naga tribes for their justices and equal respects served to the minority and majority tribes a like.”
