Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): ‘The Cul-de-sac of Naga Political Case: A question of History, a Question of Law’ authored by K Talitemsu was launched at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on August 1.

A press release received here stated that in his author’s note, Talitemsu affirmed that if the far-sighted Naga leaders of mid-1940s had not laid down a political foundation for the Nagas during the period from 1947-1956, there would have been no issue left to settle with India today. “The issue left to settle between Indian and the Nagas is a question of history and a question of law. This is not an issue to be settled on the fighting field because it is neither an issue of secession nor a revolutionary movement. The Naga political case is an issue that has to go first according to the moral sense of right and wrong,” the author noted.

He further stated that we need to find out whether the response to cumulative record of events in the historical progression should be according to the dictates of conscience or continue to engage only in dissimulative act of political gimmickry.

“The Naga hearts too ought to be set with one another because India’s policy, beginning from December 1953 has been to shift the political responsibility to Nagas versus Nagas so that India remains vindicated as protector of peace and security in the eyes of the watchers of the Naga political case, both internally and externally,” he added.

K Talitemsu is the author of the book The Missing Link and Glamour Amid Turbulence. The Cul-de-sac of Naga Political Case: A question of History, a Question of law may be considered as part two of The Missing Link -the reason being a continuity in the comprehensive study of the political development over the previous work is maintained.

Rev Dr Kari Longchar, former Director, Peace Affairs NBCC launching the book stated that the book is an outcome of a thorough unbiased research work of the Naga political struggle. This book will allow the readers to get a wholesome perspective on Naga political case, he stated.

The book is published by Heritage Publishing House, Dimapur and available in their office.
