When British left India, the majority of Hindus & Muslims wanted separate territories; irrespective of where they resided. This led to the formation of East Pakistan now (Bangladesh) and West Pakistan, and a Separate whole India to become Sovereign countries.
Even though Nagas minority was declared Independence before India’s declare its Independence, yet till today we Nagas are being suppressed by the India.
It has almost been 65 years of struggle but, we Nagas never lost our nationalism it has rather become a much stronger. According to former Home Minister P. Chidambaram, almost 15 States of India are penetrated with most for which the Indian Govt. Blames Pakistan ISI’s involvement though the Pakistani Govt. has always denied against all evidence. Whereas, on the other side China has been slowly moving closer towards the borders of India, along Jammu & Kashmir and even claimed Arunachal Pradesh as a part of their territories. Hence, opposed the recent visit of the Defence Minister of India to Arunachal Pradesh.
I suppose at this stage, if India and China had fought war it is for sure that the Tibetans- who have taken asylum in India would revolt against Chinese Govt. and favour India. But has India ever thought whether the same reaction of help would come from the North East as well as other states of India? Will they botter to fight for India? These the Indian Govt. knows much better.
Naga issue has long been a boiling talk. The Govt. of India has since years neglected! “Our rightful freedom”, assuming it a scabies that could be hidden by simply applying the ointment of compensation, but it was not so, while Nagas are waiting for treatment still, If years go on the affection of scabies will worsen and at that moment if the Govt. of India apply another method of delay a vaccine of negotiation too may lead to septic and cause a skin cancer.
The future is unpredictable who would have thought that Saddam Hussian would fall so soon, so also Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Muammar Gaddafi of Libya etc… Had they known their fate before, the situation might have altered. The Nagas never wish or dream India to fall as one of the countries.
Divide and rule policy was brought about by the East India Company, neither was it in the Indian history nor with the Nagas in culture. Instead of continuing…….. why don’t India and Naga establish a kinship of friendship to resolve all domestic problems between the two by putting our hands together with knowledge of understanding.
Now, is the time for India to show more concern upon the Naga issue which will be gain for both.
May God grand wisdom and understanding to the Indian leaders, also give love and unity amongst the Naga leaders.
