'The Naga people must rise up together in one voice & demand'

Dimapur, August 14 (Mexn): The NSCN-K (Nikki Group) observed the 76th Naga Independence Day Celebration at CFSB office premises on Sunday with the Kilo Kilonser, Zheshito Swu,unfurling the Naga national flag as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, he said nothing can deter the spirit or deceive the Nagas if they “remain united, firmly rooted in our beliefs and values,” stated a press release from the MIP, NSCN-K (Nikki Group)

“It is time that Naga people must rise up together in one voice and demand for what is ineradicable and God gifted right of the Naga people, restoring the future of Naga generations to come,” he further exhorted. 

Messages of Gen. (Retd) Niki Sumi, President and Starson Lamkang, Ato Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN were read out during the programme, it said.

 “The two Naga leaders stressed on the need for unity of the Naga people as first and foremost and then to pursue together, as one people, for what rightfully belong to Naga people - the right to determine our own future,” it added. 

The function was conducted by Hiketo Kiho Swu, Joint Secretary, CFSB, NSCN/GPRN and recorded by Ahovi Sumi Dy. Secretary, Central Secretariat, NSCN/GPRN.

Vikato L Sema, Chaplain CFSB Office said the invocation prayer for the celebration while Nika Kiho Swu presented a special number.

One minute silence was observed in honour and memory of Naga martyrs while  declaration of rank promotion was conducted by Viputo Chophi HoD to Keya, it added. 

Viheshe Yeptho, Dy. Kilonser, Ministry of Religious Affairs, NSCN/GPRN pronounced the benediction and the formal programme was  followed by a feast.
