We the undersigned would like to draw the kind attention of all in connection with the recent hoola-boola which appeared in some local dailies about women society staging a skit depicting honorable Prime minister of India. We are among many spectators on 15th August celebration 2006 in Dimapur. Many of us enjoyed the skit displayed by the women society and there was great applause from each and every one including many dignitaries present on the occasion without having a slight aspect of impending repercussion.
We would like to clear our point of view that, we Nagas are no exception from the rest of the country for which India being the largest democratic country is popularly known because of its diversity in unity. The kind of skit as an entertainment or joke is not a new thing to the different tribes in Nagaland. Honestly, what we understood is that it was the lady in disguise of PM tries to help the poor beggar and announcing package to the government and societies for their good deeds done towards the welfare of common people. The entertainment which added real masala to the skit is old ladies between age group of 40 to 50 plus, wearing school uniform disguises as Delhi Public School students.
Now, we would like to ask as to how the media was attracted to it in particular and what actually prompted them to incite the skit performed by the said women society as published. We all know the power of the fourth estate, and we expect them to provide the highlighting with positive attitude without any political motive but instead it was misconstructed which send an attention to the highest office. The citizens who had attended the celebration and those who had enjoyed the entertainment with a big laugh are the best judges.
The applause of the gathering and laughter amidst celebration should be remembered as an entertainment with logic of the simplicity and good gesture of honorable Prime Minister of India in the recent years who visited Nagaland announcing the economic package and helping the downtrodden, should be remembered by every citizen and cherished.
