Phek, September 25 (MExN): The Village Council of Thenyizu has withdrawn the suspension of Shivalaya Construction Pvt Ltd two lane works under its jurisdiction with immediate effect.
Thenyizu village council chairman, Zhothiyi Dawhuo and VDB secretary, Thepukrayi Nienu in a press release said that the ongoing mega project of two-lane Chakhabama-Zunheboto Road under SARDP crossed 18 km of Thenyizu land.
The suspension was withdrawn following the appeal made by the District Administration and Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO).
In a joint meeting held between the CPO officials and Thenyizu Village authority at the Village Council Hall on September 25, the release said the Thenyizu Village highlighted their grievances over the restoration of the suspended works and “media hype defamation of the village name by the said construction company.”
With assurance from the CPO officials to take care of the grievances, the Thenyizu village authority have agreed to lift the ban in the best interest of the ongoing development activities in their jurisdiction without any further hindrance, it stated.
Further, for public notice, the village authority disclosed that during the abandonment period of this mega project after the “reckless and unscrupulous earth cutting works of the Mytas-Gayatri Company,” the road have no dearth of ownership as even the Highway department of the State Government has turned deaf ears on many occasions to the plight of the people who use this road as their lifeline.
Under these circumstances, having no options, the Thenyizu village have single handedly managed and maintained this road into running condition from their own ends, hiring and using their own machineries for removing mudslides and landslides, clearance of drainage, deploying innumerable days of manual laborers for way-side cutting and clearance, and even renovation of susceptible collapse of bridge for the past four years from 2014-18 for the benefit of all those who traverse through the road.
With deep anguish, the Thenyizu Village Council stated that the village goodwill voluntary services cannot be ignored and condemned by others “just because of an erroneous media hype defaming allegations without any authenticity.”
Therefore, the village authority has appealed to the District Administration and Highway Department, Government of Nagaland to take note of the grievances and give “befitting recognition of our selfless services rendered for the welfare of the public during such periods of devastation of this road project.”
